FAQ

Q1) What are the days/times for this program?

A) Participants will need to complete 5 hours a week of training to qualify. For new beginner students, this means attending beginner classes Monday – Thursday from 7pm to 8pm, and Saturday mornings from 11am – 12:30 pm. Once a student qualifies for the Intermediate level class, the number of days can be shorted as Intermediate students attend classes from 7pm-9pm on Tuesday/Thursday. Any combination of these that equals 5 hours a week is acceptable.

Q2) What are the attendance requirements?

A) This is a one semester program, offered in both the Fall and the Spring. The student must have strenuous activity for a minimum of five (5) hours each week for eighteen (18) weeks per semester and may not be dismissed from any part of the regular school day. A Student must be in attendance for 90% of the stipulated hours, with no more than five (5) unexcused absences per semester. Students who join and do not complete the entire semester will not receive the substitution PE credit. Participation and gradings are reported to BISD at the end of each six week period. It is only possible to join the program prior to the 2nd week of the start of the new semester.

Q3) What is the cost of the program?

A) There is a $30 registration fee at the beginning of each semester. There is a monthly cost of $120 to participate, payable to AKFB at the beginning of each month. Payment can be made by Venmo, PayPal, Cash, or Check. Failure to pay the monthly cost will result in student removal from the program and loss of PE credits for the semester. No refunds will be given for students who exit the program early.

Q4) How do I enroll my student in this program?

A) Enrollment begins by registering for the program with AKFB. The student will then need to fill out the online BISD Off Campus PE Application Form. This will be sent to the BISD PE coordinator for final approval. Once approved, the student pays for the first month of classes, and begins attending.
